Our staff range from recently qualified teachers and teaching assistants to experienced teachers who have worked not only at this school but in a variety of schools in and around Darlington, other authorities and overseas. Hurworth Primary School prides itself on the many events that take place throughout the year ranging from singing performances to sporting events as well as whole school excursions. . In this section you will find information about term dates, our diary of events and a link to Darlington Borough Council.
Hurworth Primary School is a one form entry school with places available for 30 children for each year group. As a successful Primary School in a rural area, we are very popular and therefore often oversubscribed. Applications for Hurworth need to be submitted to the Local Authority. At Hurworth Primary School the children are at the heart of the curriculum. When children start school they begin their education in the Foundation Stage where they follow the statutory requirements of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). After one year in Foundation, children progress to Year 1 and from this year group they will follow the National Curriculum. The National Curriculum, is divided into Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Our children are always well presented in our school and take great pride in their appearance, 'Pupils wear their uniform with pride and carry this over to their work in books.' Ofsted 2014.
